StarAcc Desk Accessory Program Version 1.2. (9th July 1990).
StarAcc is a program which will allow you to control all of
the usual functions of the Star LC-10 Multi Font printer from the
ST Desktop. It also provides buttons for functions that are only
usually available through a word processor eg BOLD ,DOUBLE-HEIGHT
etc. I wrote StarAcc initially for my own use, so the facilities
it provides are the ones I tend to use most often. There are many
printer control programs in the Public Domain, but few are aimed
at specific printers so some compromises are usually inevitable.
As the Star LC-10 printer is becoming very popular I thought
others may appreciate a program aimed specifically for it. This
version of StarAcc will run in mono or colour. To load the
program copy the three files ...
STARACC.ACC
STARMONO.RSC
STARCOLO.RSC
... to your boot disk. The program will then load whenever you
boot your ST. If you forget to copy the .RSC files onto the disk
Staracc will complain about it, and will reboot your ST without
loading the program.(The program will then have renamed itself to
STARACC.ACX). If you only ever run in one screen mode (mono or
colour), you will only need one .RSC file (STARMONO or STARCOLO).
Staracc will look for the correct version of the .RSC file when
it loads.
Using StarAcc
As with all Desktop Accessory programs Staracc is accessed
from the Desk menu. The first time the program called during a
session it will reset the printer to its defaults. This is
necessary to get the printer into a known state. If the printer
goes off-line at any time while using StarAcc, the program will
detect it, and prompt you to take suitable actions. A reset will
then occur before any further commands are sent to the printer.
StarAcc is very simple to use, simply click on the button or
Icon to select the options you require. Selecting NLQ allows you
you to choose between any of the 4 nlq fonts available on the
Star. Reset does exactly that, resets the printer to its default
state, this is useful for resetting top-of-form. LFEED feeds the
paper on line at a time. Holding the mouse button down on LFEED
will cause multiple linefeeds. FFEED works the same way for
Formfeeds. Select the OK icon to exit.
StarAcc v1.2 is Public Domain, and so may be freely
distributed. Any problems, suggestions etc should be addressed to
